Case 1: x=0, with the result that -|x| = - |0| = 0
In this case, |x| = 0.
Case 2: x=-1, with the result that -|-1| = -1
In this case, |x| = 1.
Since |x| can be different values, INSUFFICIENT.

Statement 2:
Thus, x=2 or x=-2.
In each case, |x|=2.
SUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is B.
