1) ab is odd
2) a + b is even.
The OA is A.
Please, can someone explain this DS question? I need help get the correct answer. Thanks.
Given: a and b are integers
We have to find out whether a/b an even integer.
Let's take each statement one by one.
1) ab is odd.
=> a and b both are odd.
a/b = Odd/Odd cannot be even. Sufficient. The answer is, "No, a/b is NOT an even integer."
Case 1: Say a = 9 and b = 3, then a/b = 9/3 = 3, not an even integer.
Case 2: Say a = 7 and b = 3, then a/b = 7/3, not an even integer.
2) a + b is even.
=> a and b both are either Even or Odd.
Case 1: Say a = 9 and b = 3, then a/b = 9/3 = 3, not an even integer.
Case 2: Say a = 12 and b = 6, then a/b = 12/6 = 2, and even integer.
No unique answer. Insufficient.
The correct answer:
A
Hope this helps!
