Have not spent any time on AWA - should I?

by doclkk » Fri Jul 03, 2009 9:28 am
I've spent a total of 2 hours on AWA. I have no idea if the four essays I wrote are any good of any value whatsoever.

I saw the rubric that basically, one just has to score above top half right? I feel like I know how to write an 8th grade essay pretty well?

Should I devote time to this or is getting a 4.5+ easier than third grade?

I feel like my time is better spent learning about combinatorics and probability than it is with AWA?

Thoughts?

To be honest, I did not spend much time on my essay preparation either. I think the important thing is for you is basically to know the structure of the Issue and Argument essays and how to respond to them.

I received 6 points on my first essay and 5.5 on my second essay (took the exam twice). I use the simple format of essay for both Issue and Argument. However, personally I believe that by organizing your essay and providing examples for each point you make will help you get the points (providing that you did not do any grammatical error).

Basically, in my opinion, you don't have to spend much time on the essay but you just need to know the different between the two essay and how to respond to them. Although the topics are different, the structures are the same.

I am no one to advice here, but i personally feel that it is sensible to know the structure of essay that you are going to write. It shall save time and would make you think in a particular way to attack the issue at hand.
