Public sector employee with Govt. of India Undertaking

Hi

I am a public sector employee with Govt of India Undertaking working into Oil & Gas Projects consultancy business.Does this tag of being a govt servant gives any benefit or edge for making stronger profile for admissions to B-schools around the world.

Anyways I have checked statistics of ISB, they accept 1% of students from govt/PSU companies.

I want to know scenario for rest of the world.

The tag of being a govt. servant will not provide any marked advantage by itself. However if this was linked to high impact projects then obviously you can present a strong profile, which would better your chances.

Yes, I do have a 14000cr petrochemical project of national importance in my kitty..

Successfully navigating large projects show a lot of the skills that B-schools look for: Leadership, managerial & organizational ability, strong career path, ability to take responsibility etc. My point was that the add-ons to the govt. sector profile will help you more than the tag itself. The examples & the challenges you faced will make you a strong candidate.

Hi hasija,

Unfortunately the tag of PSU won't be giving you any competitive edge. It's not just the work experience that counts but also what you did there like-what were your achievements, what initiative you took, what changes you drove in your workplace etc. Showcase them well and you should be fine.
