GMAT MATH 47/79% GMAT MATH 92% (forget raw score)

Hi,

I received a 710/93% on the gmat the first time i took it. Its a fine score but Im worried that my math is only at 79% could bump me out of contention at top schools. Thoughts? I have 2.5 years of mgmt consulting exerience ina highly quant firm but didnt take much quant in undergrad...should i retake the GMAT again for a higher math score (I was penalized ne minute on the math ths go around cuz i took too long of a test break so I think i could get it a couple points hgher)

A score of 710 is competitive for pretty much any program. There is no need to retake the GMAT unless you can achieve a 20 - 30 point gain. At this point, your energy would probably be best used on preparing other components of your application package: securing references, outlining answers to common essay/interview questions, planning campus visits, etc.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I was just worried that a 79% isnt competitive at a top school. I heard the cutof was 80%. I Mean, I had been getting 48s on my maths. So, if I could get a 48 r 49 would hat be beter? I just keep reading on the schols websites that, to paraphrase...

700+ scores are great but a strong quantitive ability is more important.

For this I´m a little nervous about my score...

Generally, schools like to see an overall score that is solidly with the middle 80-percent range of scores. If you are concerned about your quant score then be sure to emphasize the quant aspects of your job in both your essays and interview.
