How to improve verbal ?

by tempbabs_80 » Sun Sep 28, 2008 6:07 am
My GMAT is on 17th Oct. I have around 19 days left.
I am not able to improve my scores in verbal.
Mock test scores :-
GMAT prep1 got 590
GMAT Prep2 - 600
Q is around 47-49
Verbal is 26-30 range.

My main problem is verbal. Without any Quant prep, I am getting 47-49.
I am studying verbal since past 2 months around 1-2 hours a day.
I have completed the verbal sections of OG11(yellow) + Manhattan 2003 SC Guide + CR + RC Guides.
I get 4 -6 out of the first 10 questions as incorrect.

Please suggest me how to increase the verbal score.

Thanks with Regards,
Babs

With only 2 weeks left, I would suggest you concentrate on very specific areas where you make mistakes often. List the key areas that affect your score the most, and work on them alone. You may not have time to make a significant improvement in this time frame.
Wish you good luck

Hi Prasanna,

Thanks for your advice.

Would it help if I go over my weak areas in OG11 and practice those?

Practice questions from OG. Understand the explanations (especially for SC). I would suggest you to go through as many SC/CR explanations from OG 11 as possible. Don't just read through, understand why each answer choice is right or wrong.

Do as many full length practice tests as possible. AWA+QUANT+VERBAL.

The main problem in verbal apart from question difficulty is that you are exhausted after sitting and staring at the computer screen for 2 1/2 hours.
