Since you have put together a study timeline that is longer-range than most, you're going to have to maintain a high level of organization. You can choose to use flashcards or not, but "review" should be a part of the process. You could potentially review specific pages from books, prior notes that you took when solving practice problems or even prior work that you did when reviewing past CATs. Note-taking will be a big part of what you end up doing - it has to be; whether you take those notes on flashcards or in some other way is up to you.
