Confusing CR (Source-CR1000)

by bornsupreme » Fri Oct 23, 2009 9:44 am
Hi,
Below is a CR I found in CR 1000

The increased concentration of salt in the bay, which is the result of recent drought and high temperatures, will cause many fish to die. Shrimp, however, can tolerate high salt levels; the shrimp industry will not, therefore, be hurt by the increased concentration of salt.

Which of the following statements, if true, would weaken the argument above?
(A) Some fish will migrate to areas that have lower concentrations of salt.
(B) Lack of rainfall for extended periods of time lowers the water level of bays.
(C) The organisms on which young shrimp feed cannot survive in such salty waters.
(D) Increased water temperature often causes shrimp to multiply more quickly.
(E) Shrimp are more abundant in areas of the bay that are sparsely populated by fish.

OA is C but do not know how??

Can any bright soul help??

Thanks.
Some choose L!fe, Some choose death.
I choose not to choose.

Simple. What we are trying to do is look for the answer that will hurt the shrimp industry the most if true.

A- Nothing to do with shrimp.

B- Nothing to do with anything.

C- Here we are. If the shrimp's main food supply is gone, this will lead to less shrimp, which will hurt the shrimp industry.

D- This is the opposite of what we are looking for.

E- This is once again the opposite of what we are looking for.

hope that helped.
