Please help me!!!! I've only got 320:(

by dijana204 » Sun Apr 11, 2010 12:46 am
Hi guys,

yesterday I've taken the GMAT and I got only 320. Actually I haven't prepare for a long time (almost 2 months), but I think that problem is because english is not my native language, so the verbal section was terrible (12).

I was prepairing with 'The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition' and I really have to emprove my verbal section but I just don't know how? What books do you recommend me to take? How long do I have to wait when I order the book from the internet (actally I'm from Europe)?

Is it relly possible from 320 get 500?!

Please help me....

Thank you!

Hi dijana204,

It seems like you really need help, and I would advise you to attend some Gmat prep courses before trying the Gmat again.

Yes I know that, but that's a problem.

I'm from Croatia (Europe) and there is a preparation course in the capita city(Zagreb) ,but I live far away from Zagreb so I just can't take the course. So I have to prepere myself alone, and I want somebody to recommend me some strategy(which books) cause I just can't beat a verbal section in a month.

Alright, try The Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review and go over the questions at least twice and make sure you grasp the concepts from the answers to the questions you got wrong

You should also use the following books for verbal:
- PowerScore Critical Reasoning Bible
- Manhattan GMAT Sentence Correction guide
- Manhattan GMAT Reading Comprehension guide
- Kaplan Verbal Workbook

The firs three books are really advised, while the second is supplementary. I would also recommend that you buy a general grammar book and work on it. Reading good material in English everyday is also a good way of taking your knowledge of the language to another level (try the Economist, the Wall Street Journal, Times etc.).

The delivery time for the books really depends on how much money you are willing to spend. I myself live in Romania and spent less that $20 on shipping, but the books arrived after three weeks or so. If you are willing to pay close to $80 (I think, I'm not sure about your country), they can be shipped to you in less than a week. Look around amazon.com for the full options.

Good luck!

DanaJ thank you very much on your answer!

Can you recommend me some god math book cause I solve all math question of 'The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition'?

Thank you!
