166. Because of the enormous research and development expenditures required to survive in the electronics industry, an industry marked by rapid innovation and volatile demand, such firms tend to be very large.
(A) to survive
(B) of firms to survive
(C) for surviving
(D) for survival
(E) for firms’ survival

why answer is B? what is wrong in A?

Look at the non underline part such firms....

We need a reference to forms in the preceding clause and to survive is correct

Required of someone is also correct idiomatic usage

Hence B and not A

We could always check if the non underlined part gives us a clue in addition to other rules.
