BS in mechanical engineering from Columbia University
GPA: 3.37 (Deans List for 4 semesters)

MS in mechanical engineering from Johns Hopkins University
Full tuition fellowship

Work Experience ~ 9 years (I have worked in industry ranging from military, telecom, aerospace, and now in consumer electronics)
GMAT (taken in 12/08): 590

I am applying for the part time NYU MBA program for the fall 09 semester. I am also bilingual in Mandarin Chinese and English.

Evaluate my chances? I am taking my GMAT again this weekend. And if I don't do well, I am gonna take it again in April. Realistically I do not think I will be able to get over 650...

Hi J,
Its hard to evaluate your profile without knowing more about your work experience, ST/LT goals and GMAT performance. But coming from an engineering background, you want to aim for at least 650.

Well I took the GMT again last Saturday and I got a 640 this time VS 590 in December.

Verbal: 74%
Quant: 68%

Overall: 76%

As for my ST/LT goals, I guess I will always work for an engineering/R&D/technology/manufacturing company siince I am always an engineer to start. ST-wise, I would look into using my MBA training to maybe get into management/project management. LT-wise, hopefully my engineering skills with MBA plus my multi-cultural background would enable me to take on a role with international responsibilities (such as running a global engineering roup or run a R&D division overseas, etc). Big goals I guess

Current work-wise, I am very involved in the technical aspects of mechanical engineering. I design/test consumer electronic products and work closely with marketing to deliver the most competitive products our company can offer....
