The OA is A
Say Mark's wages before the increase = M and Jack's wages before the increase = J;

Thus, after the increases,

Mark's wages before the increase = 1.06M;
Jack's wages before the increase = 1.06J

Thus, Jack's hourly wage was 1.06(J - M) dollars per hour more than Mark's. We have to get the value of 1.06(J - M).

Let's take each statement one by one.

1) Before the wage increases, Jack's hourly is $5 per hour more than Mark's.

=> J = M + 5 => J - M = 5

Thus, Jack's hourly wage was 1.06(J - M) = 1.06*5 = 6.3 dollars per hour more than Mark's. Sufficient.

2) Before the wage increases, the ratio of Jack's hourly wage to Mark's hourly wage is 4 to 3.

=> J/M = 4/3.

With this information, we cannot get the value of 1.06(J - M). Insufficient.

The correct answer: A

Hope this helps!
