Profile evaluation request

by dntdntdnt » Mon May 02, 2011 4:32 am
I am considering the application to Stern, MIT, IESE, INSEAD and LBS. I have not yet decided when to apply so I could wait a year if that would significantly strenghten the application.

Demographic:
Male / 27 / Spanish

Experience:
- 4 years full-time as system and process auditor in big 4 with duties including financial statement audit support and leading small teams. On the first year I was finishing my master thesis despite working fulltime.
- 2.5 years R&D internship during college in a top global telecom operator

GMAT:
730: Q47, V44, AWA: not yet known, but I expect 4.5-5

College:
MS Telecommuncations Engineering at top Spanish engineering university. GPA 3.1 (converted accordig to WES). The second half of the degree was completed while working (2.5 years part-time and 1 full-time).

Extra-curricular activities:
Soccer team camptain and some voluntary service

Goals:
Move to a top management consulting firm.

Thanks!

Hello,

From the information you've provided it looks to me like you've selected an appropriate range of schools. Some are reaches, but reasonable ones, e.g., MIT, Stern, Insead. I'd consider IESE and LBS more on-par. The GPA is on the low side, that's the one weakness, but you have a strong GMAT and clearly are proficient in quantitative subjects. Also the working while in school helps to mitigate the GPA.

Best regards,
