The answer is B. Can someone help me to explain why are we using was instead of were here?
Option C seems good to me.

This is an inverted subject-verb sentence. Reverse it:

"Anger was among the emotions on display..."

not, "Anger were among the emotions on display..."

As he says , it talks about anger....so was is correct

One more notable thing is that Among a group of things one thing is asked making it singular so correct starting word should be "was" not "were" making it 3-2 split and between the two B is better choice any day.
