answer B is really wrong b/c of the "and" - and is a coordinating conjunction and connects two complete sentences. The first half "Cut-paper design, a popular Colonial women’s pastime" is not a sentence. "colonial women's pastime" is also incredibly awkward - you have to think for a minute to understand what they're saying. Spacing it out (as answer A does) is much better.

Hi,

I am just wondering why E) is wrong.... Is it because of "the" instead of "a" popular desing??

E drops "women" as a qualifier and seems to say it was popular with everyone. Also, it says that the pastime became an art form "for" a particular woman, but it didn't become an art form for her; it became an art form because of her.

D; incorrect usage of verb
C; misleading sequence of events
E; should not use the article "the"
B; no need to use the word "and"
Hence A
