Jupiter's mass is not the largest planet. Plus to be is considered wordy in GMAT.

estimation is that the 18 huge gas spheres have 5 to 15 times the mass of Jupiter.

'And' creates a sentence fragment. Plus we don't know what the verb 'has detected' refers to. Spain or the Team.

However, "Estimated" is a key word and its proper idiomatic usage cant be ignored..I eliminated it only for the lack of proper idiomatic usage and this idiom is right from OG ...A is my second best..

I don't think 'estimated to be' fits in this context without rephrasing. For example: mass of new gas sphere is estimated to be 5 to 15 times the mass of Jupitor.

X is estimated to be Y times Z.

Just an explanation. I could be wrong.

Sorry for replying late. But here it is. According to the OG, estimated shoud be followed by an infinitive and not a preposition. So estimated to have is fine.
Also as a rule of thumb, try to look for other bigger grammatical errors than idioms to pick an answer choice.
Plus I guess in this question, the author included 'estimated to be' as a trap.

As per me in real exam, both options cannot co-exist..and hence i take this as one off beat exam and also I will put an extra verification point for check of meaning to be doubly sure...

I don't have the new MG SC Guide, can you please quote whats mentioned in the book

Btw the rule for the use of infinitive after estimated, I took it from Question 21 in OG SC. Now I'm not sure if this rule applies to that question in particular or is to be applied in general. I believe its a general rule estimated + infinitive.

You have a very sharp eyesight btw, I meant 'must' instead of should.
