GPA: 4.0 (large state university) B.A. in Economics and History
GMAT: 720 (44 (70%) Q and 45 (98%) Verbal with 6.0 AWA)
I've worked 3.5 years for a large state legislature. I can show constituent increases in responsibility and title. I have experience negotiating bills, negotiating the state's budget and run the operations of a standing committee. I also spend a lot of time doing fundraising for my member. I've directed various fundraisers and generally increased revenue each time.
In college, I was awarded my university's most prestigious undergraduate fellowship, started an issues forum group and was awarded the Outstanding Graduating Senior by the Department of Economics.
A few questions:
1. Am I a legitimate candidate at top 5/10 Schools? I'm currently looking at Harvard, Michigan, Yale, Cornell, Kellogg, Duke, Texas and Indiana. My goal is to do management consulting for government.
2. Is my non-traditional background a handicap or an asset?
3. I don't have a lot of outside of work activity since I've been in the professional world. Much of this is due to the fact that I work in two cities and, being in government, a lot of my time working on political campaigns and fundraising.
I appreciate your help.
