Is a > d?
1. a + b > c + d
2. b < c

It's quite obvious 1 is not sufficient as we have no clue about the value of b and c.

2 does not say anything.

Then, considering 1 and 2, I would say the correct answer is C. As b < c, a has to be greater than d to compensate.

Could you please confirm is this is the right approach and answer?

Is a > d?
1. a + b > c + d
2. b < c

Looking at the equations it cannot be A or B or D

from a + b > c + d => b-c>d-a

from b < c => b-c <0

Combining both 0>b-c>d-a
0>d-a => a>d

so C :D

or another method
1. a + b > c + d
2. b < c
Multiply -1 on both sides in second equation=> -b > -c


Add the equation with the first eqution we get a >d so C :D

This is the complete question. It does not say anything about the signs of a, b, c and d.
