Please let me what is wrong in it and why?

i think it shud be

Most of the audience did not enjoy the concert, likening it to the grinding of metal

We need to compare the "sound" of the concert with the "sound" of grinding of metal. Without the use of "the", we would be comparing the action "grinding" with the "concert" which is not parallel.
