Please Evaluate and suggest

Hello Experts.

Please evaluate my profile and enlighten me with next steps.

Gmat Background:
1st attempt: 550 (Q48 V18) AWA 4.5
2nd attempt: 600 (Q48 V25) AWA 5.5
3rd attempt: 640 (Q48 V29) AWA (expecting no less than 5.5)

Profile:
*Non-Native English speaker (Indian)
*About 5 yrs of work exp in manufacturing and consulting
*BS in ME (GPA 3.4) and MS in IE (GPA 3.6)
*Good acads in school and college
*Professional certifications in quality, project management etc
*Lots of extra curr. in undergrad:
- Sports (university and national level)
- Event management
- Co-founded and led a student body while doing my BS
- Presented papers at international conferences (while consulting)
- Currently working with a non-profit organization helping the needy
*Can obtain strong recc. letters from employer and from school
*Currently working on a business plan (to test my enterprenurial acumen)
*Current Job: Consulting (Manufacturing, operations mgmt. & strategy development). Non-profit company affiliated to the fed govt.

Target School:
Haas (part-time program)

*Do I have any chance (greater than 75%) to take a shot at Haas with a score of 640 (and considering above profile)?
*Do I re-apprear for GMAT (this will be my 4th attempt) to get into the ball-park?
*Will a 4th attempt hurt me while applying to any univ. in future?

I cannot give you a percentage regarding your chances of getting in given your profile. However, I will say that business school admission will be a very competitive process this Fall and a 640 GMAT is definitely at the low end for Haas. You have been able to consistently bring up your score and it might not be a bad idea to give it one more shot. However, if you choose to retake the exam it should definitely be your final attempt so be sure to prepare thoroughly.

The current published data shows the middle 80% GMAT range as 640 to 760. You obviously want to be as solidly within this range as possible. Though the GMAT is only one portion of your application, you want your score to be as strong as possible. Your GPA is fairly average for a Haas student so make sure the remainder of your application is outstanding.

Hi 3G,
Adding to the earlier posts, as an Indian IT applicant, your score is lower than others with similar backgrounds. And I am not convinced that taking the score a 4th time will help you significantly (even if you score +700).

If you are interested in an MBA this year, have you considered widening your school choices?

I am not from IT field. 100% of my professional experience is in manufacturing and operations......and all in the US.

Still my 640 is lees

I feel I can propel myself to late 600's (or even early 700's if I have a good day). I dont know whether this will still help me...considering this will be my 4th attempt. I do have a unique background, which can be highlighted if I were to put my application. However.....given my 4 attempts and considering my different background and above avg. acads and EC's , do you think, say, a 680 will make me a strong candidate at haas's part-time program?

Congrats on your score. Your higher GMAT score will help, but in this ultra competitive admissions year, you need to be on par with all other aspects of your candidacy, including your essays, LORs and interviews.

I will do my best to stand out. I am a practicing Industrial Engineer (MS) with a BS in ME from Mumbai, India. Most of my WE has been in automotive (manufacturing) and consulting (manufacturing, operations and strategy)

I used WEC 's GPA convertor to convert my Indian %tage into GPA.

Based on the above link, now I know that my BS GPA is almost 3.5 (3.8 in last year) . I did my MS in US and have a GPA of 3.6.
I have good EC's and will have around 5.5 Yrs of WE at matriculation. I can easily obtain very good rec letters. I am applying for Haas's Part-time program. Haas's avg WE for a part-time class is around 8 yrs. I have also been a speaker for a couple of international conferences related to manufacturing and quality engineering.

How good a chance do you think I have now? Does having less than avg WE (5.5 versus 8 ) may have a detrimental affect on my candidacy?
