Hey Everyone,
I'm hoping to Beat the GMAT in the next 6 weeks and could really use some advice to crack that 700.
The Breakdown:
I've been studying since May. Took a PR class from June-August. Studied on my own til now.
Materials:
BTG Forums
PR Books/Online
Kaplan 800
GMAT Prep
GMAT OG 11 + Verbal/Math Supplements
MGMAT Online tests
I focused intensely on Kaplan 800 and the OG books. My starting scores were abysmal. Moved up slowly but steadily, however, the one problem I've always had (and it reared its ugly head today!) is timing on the math. I've always had a problem of getting problems done quickly (I'm accurate, just not fast). Anyway, 1 month before the test, I was finally scoring in the high 600s/low 700s, but found that it still felt like pure luck because of the timing on math. I took an MGMAT exam and got a devastating 550 that nearly shattered my confidence.
I decided to focus on pulling my verbal score up in the remaining 2 weeks (hoping MGMAT was just a fluke). Took a GMATPrep exam on Saturday and scored 720. This last week I basically reviewed for a 2nd time the Kaplan 800 book and felt ok this morning.
AWA was fine. Math was fine until I look at the clock and realized I was screwed. Clicked blindly through the last 10 or so (which of course, led to my raw score of 35 compared to the 45+ I had been scoring a month prior). Luckily, I was able to shake it off for Verbal and did ok on that section.
So here I am, I'm giving myself 6 more weeks. Can anyone provide any advice on how I can speed up on Math or how to adjust my studying techniques (with a full time work schedule!)?
Thanks and congrats to all those are in the midst of this process - it's an accomplishment in and of itself!
