Human nature dictates that every action, no matter how selfless it appears, is inspired by a selfish reason.
The above issue states that every action is inspired by a selfish reason because it is human nature to be selfish. The issue also states that it does not matter if the action appears to be selfless. I dont agree with the above issue and strongly beleive that there are people who are not selfish at taking actions.
Firstly, There has to be an distinction between selfish and selfless actions, NO action can be selfish and selfless at the same time. For example, some can say that the action of many freedon fighters were selfless, but on contrary some might fell their actions to be selfish, as these freedom fighters wanted to be free and did whatever they did for themselves, resulting in a selfish action. But i think these actions of freedom fighters to be selfless as they not only wanted themselves to be free but also wanted others to be free. If they wanted themselves to be free they would have made arrangements with the rulers to make themselves free.
Secondly, Can we consider the action of a finance minister of a country to be selfish, if he wants the economic condition of his country to improve by imposing certain policy which will lead to his financial health to be improved? NO. This signifies that actions are selfish or selfless.
Thus, I have a opinion that there has to be discrimination between selfish and selfless actions, no matter how much selfish a action may seem if it helps others that action needs to be considered as selfless.
