Profile Eval: 710, 3.7 gpa, 27 y/o

I hope hoping to get some honest feedback on my profile. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'm a 27-year-old male looking to apply to B-school this fall for entry to a full time program in the fall of '09. A little about my background:

Undergrad: 3.7 GPA (Cum Laude) from a small liberal arts school in WA. Business Major, Finance Concentration, Economics Minor. Member of Varsity Baseball Team, Finance Club, Lead Analyst on Student Investment Fund, various other volunteer activities.

GMAT: 710
I realistically expected to perform better. Is it worth retaking if I feel I can improve to 730-740 range?

Work Experience: 5 years total

Out of college: 3.5 years experience with major consulting/accounting firm in their Capital Markets consulting and due diligence division. Started as analyst, was promoted to Manager of Analytics and Clients Services within two years. Directly managed six analysts and worked closely with clients - high level managers of major investment banks. Was responsible for the due diligence of large capital markets transactions, both domestically and internationally. Received Outstanding Leadership award in 2006 (given to one employee in group of approximately 150).

Most recent: 1.5 years experience running my own private lending and investment management firm.

Recommendations will be provided by senior level managers from prior employer.

Extra-Curricular: Currently volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Also am involved in youth baseball and basketball coaching.

My target schools for full time MBA: Berkeley-Haas, Dartmouth-Tuck, UCLA-Anderson, Stanford (dream choice) or University of Washington-Foster (local school)

With my credentials, would I have a reasonable shot at getting into these programs? Is there anything else I should work on to make my application more interesting?

Dear th16,

I do believe you have a reasonable shot at all of these programs. Since it is November, I think your efforts are better used to get in quality applications as soon as possible rather than retaking the GMAT. No other weaknesses jump out at me--just be sure to present yourself effectively in your essays highlighting both your professional and personal experiences.

Best of luck,
Lisa
