Translated Recommendations

My recommenders do not speak English. May I translate their recommendations from the native language into English? Should the translations be authorized somehow?

Dear mikola,

It is best to find someone else to do the translations so you have no involvement in the recommendations. If you do the translation, then the school will question the authenticity of the recommendation. If there is not someone you can ask, then you might have to do the translation. Just be sure to not change what is written and give the translated document back to your recommenders for them to submit. Ideally, you should not be involved though.

Good luck,
Lisa
