Resume Question

Hi,

Is it ever okay to refer to high school achievements in the resume, for NYU Stern and Kellogg? What if it is a stellar achievement, such as being ranked 3rd out of 10,000 students in a central examination?

Hello,

I suggest not to -- achievements at that early time don't belong in a professional resume and undermine the professional tenor of the document. However, there may be opportunities to discuss such achievements in the essays, especially if you can link them to current experiences -- e.g., if you learned something important from that early experience that you applied more recently.

Thank you for your insight. It is too late for one of the schools, as I had already submitted the application. I hope it will not count against me.
I will make sure to omit high school references from other resumes.
