Is the GMATPrep test CAT?

Are the two tests you download from mba.com computer adaptive like the real one? I just took the first one and was fairly disappointed in the score (560 with Q/30 and V/36) but I wasn't thinking CAT at all. I do remember a harder question in the beginning but I just guessed at it instead of taking the time to figure it out because I was afraid I'd run out of time. As it turns out, I had almost 20 minutes remaining at the end of the quantitative section so I need to slow down. The verbal section went all the way down to under 5 minutes though so my time management was a little better.

Anyway, if they are a CAT, does that mean I should be able to install it on a different computer and get different questions if I answer the first few correctly? I don't want to retake it and use up my second test this early. I'm taking the GMAT on 10 May and want to wait until I'm a little closer to that date.

GMATPrep tests are CAT tests, and are the best simulation of the real GMAT on the market. If you repeat the two tests more than once, it's likely that you are going to see questions being re-used--even if you install on a different computer.

My advice is to take one GMATPrep test at the beginning of your prep, to see your baseline, and take one right at the end to see your improvement.

Best of luck!
