Lisa,
Thanks for the input which I have pasted for your reference below. I like your positive take on delaying my applications by a year but still have some lingering concerns:
1. Middle 80% of work Experience Range: I am surprised that US schools will not view my age negatively since their averages are around 5 years and middle 80% range is 3 - 7 years. While I would have 6.5 years of work ex if I were to start in Fall 2009, I would have 7.5 years if I were to start in Fall 2010. I guess my initial thought was that exceeding the middle 80% range of work experience would hurt my candidacy.
2. Premium on International Experience: Secondly, my impression on international experience was that the EU schools place a higher premium than American schools. Am I incorect here? I guess it can be a differentiator
Thanks again for your prompt response.
"Dear brtheat,
Waiting another year to apply will not affect your candidacy negatively. An international experience that will broaden your skill set might actually make a positive impact to your application. If you want to take this overseas opportunity, then you should and enjoy the UK (maximizing the professional experience, too).
Congratulations on your opportunity!
