GMAT 660 : What chances ?

by mihir.urs » Mon Oct 20, 2008 8:34 pm
Hi ,

I am Mihir and i took my gmat about a week back, scored 660.Quants 47 and Verbal 34.

I belong to the dreaded Indian IT pool of applicants.Have two years of work with a software major ( will be 3 by the time i join a b skool ).Presently i work on myriad of technical things and lead a team of 3 people.Acads are ok.Got some awards to show for my work in the present organisation.

Extra-curriculars are good.Have been a student reporter in school and wrote articles for a leading newspaper. Also was a brand ambassador for a leading marketing company for one season in my city.Got various certificats for quiz, debate and dramatics in school and college.

Kindly advice me on the following :

1)what are my chances with respect to NUS,NTU,HKUST and Great Lakes.Amongst these 4 what is an advisable order of preference for choosing.

2)I had been scoring 700-720 in the mocks ( 720 in the gmat prep software test 2 ). don't know how i screwed it up on test day.Should i retake the exam again to improve my chances for the institutes mentioned above?

3)Any other institutes where i can apply ?

Thanks

Mihir

Dear Mihir,

If you have only taken the GMAT once, then I think it would be worth retaking the exam. Your score puts you in range for these programs, but a higher score would put you in a better position. As for the order, that is up to you to decide based on which schools best match what you are seeking in terms of curriculum, culture and career opportunities. I encourage you to visit our sticky on school selection for tips on assessing programs to determine which are the best match.

Good luck,
Lisa
