Here are the positive facts:
GMAT: 760 (Q50V42, Percentile: Q94V95T99) / 5.5
TOEFL: planned on Oct. 25th (I am really psyched about the speaking section of the test, was taking it too lightly, just took the first partial practice test and was completely bummed). So now i have 7 days (evenings) to try and be of acceptable quality in speaking section. It seems to be more about presence of mind and ability to speak a lot than about actual command over English.
UG GPA: 7.9 / 10 (Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi)
Education: PhD in mathematics, Germany
Occupation: Research scientist (computational biology), USA
Recommendations: Would be OK to Great, 1 from Germany, 2 from US, two supervisors, one peer, ALL of them Academic though.
Essays: Should be OK (several of my friends with Master's degree will hopefully provide their feedback).
Negatives:
Leadership experience: None
Professional experience: Only academic research experience. Also my recommendations are from Academics.
Extra-curricular: Nothing of significance
Note: Because of my PhD degree, my career will advance only if I do an MBA from a top school. Therefore, to start with i have compiled a grossly optimistic list. Please let me know if i am insane.
My first draft of schools:
1. London Business School
2. Wharton
3. Harvard
4. MIT Sloan
5. Judge Business School
6. NYU Sloan
7. Yale Business School
8. Cornell Johnson accelerated MBA for candidates with advanced degrees
