Only a meager 580..So disappointed.

I gave the test a few days ago(25th sept.) and got a miserable 580(q41, v29 - AWA 5.5). I scored 650 each on both the GmatPrep tests and got scores ranging from 550 - 590 on 4 Kaplan tests i took. Im really feeling disappointed since i was constantly around the 35 - 40 mark on the verbal and ended up getting only 29 on the real thing.

Can anyone here plz suggest me how to improve on the quants..specially on the number properties and probability questions...I will give the test again within a months time..Im confident i can improve my verbal with more practice.

Try the manhattan guides. They are good for building the required basics.

Did you see a lot of probability questions on your test ?

No..i just got one probability question..i think i messed it up and hence easier questions followed...im in Nepal and i dont have access to the manhattan guides or the official guide quant review..thats the problem...The only books i have are:

1. Official Guide 11th edition
2. Princeton Review - Cracking the GMAT
3. Barron's GMAT.
4. Kaplan CD tests.

I had to break a lot of sweat to get the official guide too...ive searched a lot of book stores here..they dont have the manhattan series books or the official guide supplements....I guess ill have to try to learn from this forum only.

Hi Sandman,

You are not alone! I have got 660 in GMATprep, just 2 days before the actual GMAT and got 590 in my last Kaplan CD test.
But .. In actual GMAT, I got just 590! [Q 40,V 31] I am yet to recover from that shock..:(

I am thinking of giving it again, sometime in Dec .. but totally confused about how to start again..

I feel I need to improve my quant score, I had under estimated it - thinking that it will be easy. So my strategy is to study Quant section little more deeper and buy Manhatten SC guide and praticse using 1000 series notes for RC,CR and SC.

Iwill
