Help on prep guage

by bdahlg68 » Mon Oct 13, 2008 6:50 pm
Here are my prep scores so far...

Test Date Verbal Quant Total
KAPLAN GMAT 1 9/20/2008 34 42 620
PR GMAT 8 9/27/2000 39 37 620 (didn't finish Q)
PR GMAT 9 9/30/2008 44 48 730
PR GMAT 10 10/1/2008 37 44 650
MGMAT Demo 10/5/2008 33 48 670
KAPLAN Demo 10/6/2008 41 43 660
KAPLAN CAT 1 10/7/2008 33 41 610
GMATPrep 1 10/8/2008 37 50 720
KAPLAN CAT 2 10/11/2008 33 37 570
PR GMAT 11 10/11/2008 39 51 720

I've got about 3 weeks left to study for the GMAT. My stretch goal is 750. Realistically, I'm looking for a 720. My quant has definately improved since the start. My verbal is all over the place, although I know I am improving in some areas (i.e. SC). Ignore the 570 Kaplan score (I did this without any written notes, I was testing my stamina a bit). I have a couple more Kaplan tests to take and of course GMATPrep 2. These will come over the next couple weeks. Am I unrealistic in assuming I am well prepared to get 700+ at my current pace???

Thanks in advance for any critique or feedback.

Brian

You should be pretty confident. The GMAT Prep tests tend to be quite accurate, so if you scored a 720 on one of those you should expect somewhere around there on the real test. Of course, with such a large variation in your practice tests, it's hard to say for sure, and once in awhile I do have a student do a lot better or a lot worse on the real thing.

But yes, overall, the GMAT Preps are pretty indicative of the real thing. Take the 2nd one after a bit more studying and see how you do.
