Hello,
I took the GMAT twice. I scored a 670(Q: 44, V: 38, AWA: 4) the first time and a 690(Q: 48, V: 36, AWA: 5) the second time. The first time I didn't take enough practice tests before the actual test and couldn't finish both the sections on time. The second time I jus had a bad day. I had a cold and a slight headache that day which jus aggravated while I was in the last section of the test, that is, verbal where I did a bit poorly compared to how I did in verbal the first time.
My profile: engineer with 2+ years experience in a top IT company in India, good undergraduate gpa, good extra-curriculars while in college but none at work.
I haven't made a final list of schools to apply to as yet though I'm considering the full-time programs at some such as tuck, darden, tepper, kenan-flagler, kelley, goizueta and boston university. I am planning to apply before round 2 deadlines. I was just wondering whether this GMAT score was enough for these schools, assuming that I will do my best in the essays and other areas, or should I go for another retake. I am sure I can score something between 710 and 740 if I sit again next month but wasn't sure how much of a difference it will make in the eyes of the admissions committee. And also it will leave me with less time to prepare the rest of the application within the round 2 deadlines that start somewhere in December and go through January.
I also wanted to know how much difference a GMAT score makes when candidates are considered for scholarships. I am looking at at least partial scholarsips.
Thanks in advance,
Balaguru
