resume format and order

Dear all,

I am applying for the 2009 mbas. I have only 3 years of work experience as a doctor, but I have been studying healthcare management part time for two years now (i'll get my diploma in healthcare management next feb).

I have been thinking of putting my educational background at the beginning of my resume (mentioning some of the management related coursework) before my work experience in order to highlight my management education. Is this a good idea or should I stick to experience>education>additional?

Hey mmayad,

I think that it is totally acceptable for people with limited amount of work experience to put their education first. Since it's also something that you're currently working on (the coursework), it's legit to keep it up there.

One you graduate from a MBA program and have a summer internship under your belt, you'd probably want to keep your work experience first.

Keep in mind, however, it's all about what you want the admissions director/committee to read first. So if you think that the educational component is the most important, then write that first. If you think that your career work is more important, then emphasize that.
