Need Suggestions

by enigma_080 » Fri Apr 06, 2007 9:29 pm
Hi All,
I will appreciate if you can provide some suggestion to my query below:-

I am interested in pursuing MBA in 2008(fall/spring) and my current work exp is close to 3 years.
The breakup of exp is like:-
Software Engineer,Small startup Software MNC B : past 3 months(ongoing)
Cofounder,Software firm:past 5 months(ongoing)
Software Engineer,Large Software MNC A: 2.5 yrs

I wanted to know whether an experience of 1 month in another firm C (between MNC A & B) needs to be mentioned in essay/resume for MBA .Please note that I had also started the software firm during that period ,so there is NO gap as such.
(Even my current employer B has considered me as joining from firm A only.)
Apart from this,if its possible to get this info about 1 month employment from tax returns(during some verification)?
If yes, then in that case, will this be considered as wrong info provided to bschool frm me /my last company as we not mentioned about firm C?
Please GUIDE me.

I would not mention the 1 month of experience. It just complicates your story and does not add value. I do not think you are being dishonest by not telling them everything you have ever done with your life! If specifically asked you would answer truthfully, but omitting it does not feel like an issue to me. This is not the type of thing they are hiring investigation services for - these services are more focused on verifying that you did indeed attend hold a certain job or attend a certain school. They are verifying specific facts within your application, that unfortunately some applicants are fabricating.

Thanks a lot!
First of all,I am very happy to know this because I dont want the B-school to have wrong information about myself in any way.
BTW,my current employer will be having details of my last significant job and NOT of 1 month insignificant job. So,I guess this wont account to any sort of information hiding done by me/current employer(even if I was not asked anything during interview etc and this got known later in some verification).
Is the entrepreneurship experience which I had stands out as good point in application for MBA?

Apologies for my late reply.
Thanks for your inputs.

My last question is that I am not sure if the entrepreneurship is considered a positive thing by recruiters/companies?
Please throw some light!

It definitely can be a positive. As with anything, it's all about how you present it, what personal characteristics you emphasize and how it ties to your overall story.
