Consultants in India

by eunice N » Wed Sep 03, 2008 4:03 am
people, can anyone suggest some good consultants in India (Hyderabad), I enrolled with Princeton Review and had a bad experience . the admission counselor thoroughly contradicted herself when it came to her words and the service she delivered. not really happy with the college shortlisting service. she gave me the colleges which are nowhere in the rankings. i know i can definitely do a lot better than that. am nt sure wether to get the rest of the services from them or not . any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks

i would suggest contacting private counselors in bombay, i wouldn't go with the institutionalized people like Kaplan/Princeton since it's India we are talking about here.

Madhavi Desai and Karan Gupta are the best in bombay. They both charge an arm and a leg vs. the competition but they are worth it if you want value private univ. / ivy / top 5 admissions guidance.

you don't need any consultants.

In this day and age, google.com is all you'll ever need.

i would very much like to do it but am lil apprehensive about it. you know getting help with admission from a US consultancy costs a lot more than what it does in india. i can spend on it provided i get the results am looking for. i want to get into one of the top 20 programs if possible with scholarship(thats asking for a bit much i think :? )
i know i dont have that great a profile but i think dont have a bad one either ..my acads are good and have about 4 yrs of exp with 2 in a non profit org and 2 into tech support ..currently working for Deloitte..no outstanding career growth in these 2 yrs but then again i know people who are studying in one of the world's top Bschools with same profile as mine..its all about putting together a smart application i guess.. the bottom line is i need someone who can really help me make it and not someone who'd waste my time and money and in the end give me somethting else!!!

I personally never thought of hiring consultant from India. As somebody above said, you dont need a paid service in this 'information era' if you're smart enough and have sufficient time for the MBA research & application.

Still if you are looking for a counsellor, make sure to study his profile & his experience. he should have preferably first hand experience in apping process.

generally, consultation from US based firm is better than ANY Indian counsellor

Hi,

Few current students from top mba programs have started a service by the name of appmentor. It is much cheaper than most of the consultants available online and you get feed back from current students and alums of the schools you're thinking of applying to.

Do check it out. The website is www.appmentor.com

Best,
Trump
