Hi,
1) How important is it to use business terminologies in an SOP (for PhD admission)? ---
I have read some formidable ( in terms of words used) Economics PhD SOPs available on the net. Even worse, some of the PhD theses on marketing have equally daunting titles. Don't the members of the admission committee get glazy-eyed when they face such SOPs or are such SOPs the way to really impress those who matter?
2)How does one manage to strike a balance between not being too specific about the intended topic of research (I mean, the admission committee could end up thinking that the particular topic could run into methodology issues)...and not being too general eg, "I want to do my PhD thesis on Advertising and Persuasion" (The admission committee could end up thinking, "Yes, but so would a hundred others!")?
Thanks for any input!
Shilo
