Hi Stacy/Lisa,
I am 24 years and have been working since the age of 16 due to my family's financial conditions which meant i had to quit studying after secondary school(March 1999). i joined as a sales executive for a bank at the age of 18 and eventually moved into reporting department after displaying a knack for that.
In May 2004, I joined my current company(the 2nd largest BPO in the world) as an MIS Officer for a major PC manufacturer and was promoted as a Data Analysis and MIS Executive in June 2006. In this role, i handled the reporting for the entire process and also was a unofficial mentor and go-to guy for all MIS officers in the company. My responsibilities in this role were-
Maintaining Reports for all metrics being measured for the process including Customer Satisfaction, Sales, Resolution, & Productivity. Perform root cause analysis on customer surveys, ratings and comments in an effort to pinpoint major reasons for Customer Dissatisfaction & formulate training programs based on the analyzed data with Trainer and Quality Auditors to help agents attain targets. Creating new reports and presentations when needed. Provide support and guidance for MIS officers in other processes.
In Nov 2007, I was promoted as a Team Leader for the Transition Team. My responsibilities in position include-
Handling the transition of 20-30 new agents fresh from Training to the eventual production floor team. Coordinating and conducting On-floor training sessions with Resolution Experts and Sales Coaches. Meeting regularly with the Training Dept for an updated and more relevant curriculum. Maintaining Transition reports and providing regular updates to Process Managers.
I went back to school and graduated High School in April 2007. I am currently enrolled in a 3 year BBA course which should be completed in April 2010. My concern is my low GPA (Which will be a result of working fulltime. I could get it up to somewhere between 2.75 and 3.0 in the final 2 years) and the fact that my grades in Accounting and Quantitative studies in my first year were just above passing (I was newly promoted and didn’t concentrate on studies.) I just gave my GMAT a week back and my score was 740(Q-48, V-44).
My only extra curricular activities are volunteering for the local Hare Krishna temple's Food for Life program which i have done since i was 15. I also coordinated a volunteer registration organization started by my friend during its inception stage (right after the Mumbai 2006 blasts). I played football for a local club and coached during summers till i was 20(thought i was good enough to make a career out of it but clearly wasn’t!!!)
I know this sounds like a lot to read but please evaluate my profile for suitability at a top 10 college if I apply in October 2010 and also suggest ways I can improve on it. Also, will the lack of a smooth educational path so far kill my chances?
