Let's take each statement one by one.

(1) \(5x + 10y + z = 5\)

Plugging-n the value of \(x = 1 - 2y\) in \(5x + 10y + z = 5\), we get \(5(1 - 2y) + 10y + z = 5\)

Thus, z = 0. Sufficient.

(2) \(x = 17 + 2y\)

No information of z. Insufficient.

The correct answer: A
