It should be C,

IMO A says Malaria is an evolutionary advantage whereas it should be people who inherit the sickle cell anemia have an evolutionary advantage

Which one is better A or C and Why

At first glance, the modifier "an inherent advantage" modifies malaria..and we may choose C because of this reason. But C changes the intended meaning by putting an 'and'.

B - "Seemingly are" is incorrect usage
C - "Seem to be resistant to malaria and have" implies 2 conditions which is not intended
D - improper usage ( "Seemingly are" and "to have")
E - awkward construction and implies 2 conditions

b & d - seemingly doesn't work here.
c- and act as 2 diff conditons while, second part is the elboration of 1st.So,worng

I received a PM asking me to respond to this question.

When you have a structure such as this one, the stuff after the comma refers to the entire preceding clause - people resistant to malaria - not just to the disease malaria itself. You don't have the typical markers of a noun modifier right after the comma (eg, which, that). Instead, it just goes straight into a noun (advantage) plus modifier (that may explain). This is a somewhat unusual structure, but if you do see it, know that it is more "flexible" than your standard noun modifiers and refers to the independent part of the sentence as a whole, not just the closest noun.

And, yes, C does change the meaning. C seems to say that having the sickle cell thing results in two separate things: (1) resistance to malaria, and (2) some evolutionary advantage that isn't really fully explained. But, of course, #2 is really talking about #1 - the advantage is the resistance to malaria.
