Hey
I need some tips for the SAI application for the Grande Ecole program.
They essays have a very small limit. Just 500 characters including spacing. I want some tips on want should the content of the 4 lines be.
1.Which Personal achievements are you most proud of?
Should i just mention one achievement and give more details abt it or should i give two achievements because it mentions personal achievements.
Would it be appropriate to include these two as the achievements
a. chairman of a community service initiative where i led a team of 80 students to raise
over $40000 for the reconstruction of a shelter home for the destitute
b. Ranked 5th in my university department which has about 150 students.
2.Describe a situation where you failed and what did you learn from it?
I have two failures. One is during my school days . Would it be appropriate to include this ? I went blank on stage during an elocution competition. My classmates made fun of me for my public failure. This motivated me to improve my public speaking skills and ever since i have grabbed every opportunity to speak in front of a large audience.
My second failure would be organizing an cultural event in college for which i was the core organizing member, I learnt the important of planning, team co-ordination and crisis management. But these are traits i have displayed in my achievements also.
So which one should i pick ?
3.. Why is your application an added value for the SAI member schools?
I want to know what exactly are the schools looking for in this question. According to me reason i would be a value addition to the schools is my international experience which has helped me understand and appreciate cultural differences and how to work with people from different countries.
I have been on a community service internship to Philippines where i spent time with the local filipino families. I have worked along with a team of Sri Lankans for over a month to help develop relations with the indian AIESEC Chapter. I have also attended two international leadership conferences where i got to interact with people for 10 different countries.
Pls tell me if it would be an appropriate answer to this question. Or should i bring in someother aspect into this.
I would be glad if you could leave your comments on this post.
