What is the average temperature from Monday through Saturday of a week?

(1) The average temperature from Monday through Wednesday of the week is 36°C.
(2) The minimum and maximum temperatures between Thursday and Saturday of the week are 25°C and 38°C, respectively.

The OA is E.

Please, can anyone explain this DS question? I need help to solve it. Thanks.

Say the per day temperatures of the six days are given by M, T, W, Th, F, and S.

We have to find the value of (M + T + W + Th + F + S)/6.

Let's take each statement one by one.

(1) The average temperature from Monday through Wednesday of the week is 36°C.

=> (M + T + W)/3 = 36 => M + T + W = 3*36 = 108. Can't get the value of (M + T + W + Th + F + S)/6 as the vakue of (Th + F + S) is not known. Insufficient.

(2) The minimum and maximum temperatures between Thursday and Saturday of the week are 25°C and 38°C, respectively.

Certainly insufficient. No information about other days.

(1) and (2) together

No information about Friday temperature. Insufficient.

The correct answer: E
