Here, CONVERSIONS are illogically compared to THE POPULATION.
Eliminate A.

C: conversions instead of the...increasing
Here, CONVERSIONS are illogically compared to THE INCREASING.

D and E: Church membership is expanding by 6.6 percent a year, fully two-thirds of the growth is from conversions.
Here, a comma incorrectly connects the blue sentence to the red sentence.
If a comma can be replaced by a period, the answer choice is WRONG.
This error is known as a COMMA SPLICE.
Eliminate D and E.

The correct answer is B.
