I believe the answer should be B.

Among the emotions "was anger". Since only one emotion 'anger' is described in the sentence, was is the correct usage and options A, C, and E can be ruled out.

Between B and D, option D has a very awkward construction. So select B. It has proper construction and mentions that among the different emotions there was anger about 2 things: repeatedly raising an issue and as a result preventing the wounds from healing.

However, what about the following case:

Among the emotions on display in the negotiating room [was/were] anger, resentment and jealousy.

I would choose were in the above statement because, if you re-arrange the sentence as below:

Anger, resentment and jealousy were among the emotions displayed in the room.

Am I right?

B should be the answer, the subject anger is singular and thus will take singular verb was... Do not get confused because of 'and' as conjuction and joins the parallel ideas (raising the issue.... and preventing the raw..) which is both grammatically and logically parallel.

nox104 I think you are right... as the subject 'anger, resentment and jealousy' is plural because of 'and' the plural verb 'were' will be used.

Sorry buddies, but i do not agree with you both
I think among the emotions were anger......& preventing......
So BCD should be ruled out and E is not correct.
So A should be the answer.
