GMAT prep in Brussels

Dear all,

I am looking for a test prep center and/or individual teacher(s) in Brussels (Belgium) to help me for the GMAT.

I would like to start as of January.

Please, I am not interested in virtual and online courses as I prefer to face the person.

Hi Frédéric,

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can download 2 for free from www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 4 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can discuss your results and how best to proceed.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What is your goal score?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

Many thanks for the reply.

I already took a GMAC CAT before starting studying 2 weeks ago (I just did a couple of questions as example to have an insight of the questions' style).

In overall, I scored 460 split as followed:
- Quant = 31
- Verbal = 21
- IR = 3

To answer your questions:
- My goal: it depends on the University I will apply but in my dreams, be around 700 with a minimum of 650.
- My planning: I would like to apply in September 2018 for an intake in September 2019. I still need to take the TOEFL as well. Therefore, I consider to take the GMAT around April and the TOEFL in the summer.

According to your experience, what is the potential curve of progress I can expect starting from a 460 score with 4 months of practice?

Hi Frédéric,

With 4 months of study time, you could potentially improve a great deal - but all of that is dependent on a variety of factors, including how quickly you can learn/practice the proper Tactics, the practice materials you use, the consistency of your study, etc. From a statistical standpoint, it's worth noting that the 650+ score is about the 80th percentile, so most Test Takers don't end up scoring at - or above - that level (regardless of how long they study or the number of times that they take the GMAT). Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

As an aside, you're not the first person to have to study for the GMAT and the TOEFL in the same year - and there's some evidence to support the idea that studying for the TOEFL first can be make it easier to study for the GMAT later on (so that's something that you might want to consider). It's also possible that 'limiting' your options to on-the-ground classes/teachers in Belgium might be too restrictive, so you might want to keep an open mind about online study options.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Indeed my objectives are optimistics but not impossible and I will do everything it is necessary to achieve my goals. That is why I'm also considering on-line support (like courses, videos, etc...) as a side to my one to one prep in Brussels.
