I am done with the GMAT and happy with my score, so I am just writing to people who finish their test, thinking they will score the mid 500's or early 600's and are shocked to see a score lower than they have ever got.
Don't give up hope. And I'll tell you this much, being a good test taker is half the battle. When you finish a question MOVE ON. Do not think about the last question you just finished. FOCUS.
I was SO nervous the first time I took the test. The second time, I just took a deep breath and said hey whatever happens, happens. And what happened was that I improved my score 130 points.
Ok in terms of strategy. Remember, for those dejected people out there, you have studied this stuff. You know it!!!! You just need to build on your fundamentals. I got myself a private tutor, and he helped me significantly with the Quant.
In terms of verbal, please don't listen to the all the people that post on how difficult the verbal section has become. is. BE PREPARED. There's nothing else to it. Do not just focus on math 1 week and verbal another week. You need to practice all 5 types of problems each week so you feel at ease when you take the test.
Also, for verbal, when you take GMAT Prep, print screen the verbal questions into a word document and print it out. You need to make sure you know WHY you are getting these questions wrong. Spend as much time as possible to figure the answer out but DON'T do it on the computer screen.
Well that's my two cents. I know 610 isn't an ideal score. But I improved 130 points which I am pretty happy about.
This forum has been great. Thanks to all those that have contributed!
