When the real estate market is uncertain homeowners are more likely to put money into stocks or certificates of deposit than into home improvements.
(A) than into
(B) than they do into
(C) than they are into
(D) as into
(E) as

OA: C

Is this a typical GMAT question? I am not certain of the source's authenticity.

Errors in B, D, and E are typical of GMAT.

However, the distinction between A and C is not. Both are workable.

Ali is right: both A and C would be correct answers here. Where did you find this question? It's clearly not from a high-quality source.

The sentence itself also contains a grammatical flaw: there should be a comma after "uncertain." You should refrain from studying from this source.
