Basic stats: 3.6GPA from Tufts University, 750 GMAT, 89%Q/97%V, age 22 – just graduated past May.
I’ve been working in investment banking since graduation. As is well documented in the news, the industry isn’t doing so hot right now. I’m wondering whether it’d be too soon for a recent grad to apply to bschool, and, whether there’s someway to spin the industry layoffs into an HBS admit.
I am employed w/ Merrill Lynch in New York, but do not know whether I will have a job after the firm is acquired by Bank of America. If I were to lose my job, I think a bschool stint would be a good fall-back plan.
In the past, I have also worked with JPMorgan in investment banking (internship) in Singapore. Have also worked in an investment bank in Mongolia (another internship). While I was in Mongolia, I got involved in community development, and helped build a school for an orphanage (community service aspect of application, I guess).
I currently have about 3 months of work experience… I could possibly have a year of work experience upon matriculation, but I could also possibly lose my job in the coming months.
So, my question is as follows: do you think that your consulting services could put a positive enough spin on my story where I would stand a decent shot at HBS?
