Application question

by mba09quest » Mon Sep 15, 2008 6:30 pm
Hi,

I am currently applying for business schools for Fall 2009. One of the first questions asks you to list your full-time/part-time work experience. I ran a small tutoring business for a few years. I did this full-time, but as it was contract work, do I list this as full-time work experience or part-time work experience?

What's the general procedure for people who ran small businesses? Do they count as full-time or part-time work experience?

Thanks for your time.

Dear mba09quest,

Great question--if you spent 40+ hours per week on your business, then it is full-time. However, if you always held another full-time job and simply did this in your off hours (even if you spent 40+ hours/wk), there are folks who will look at as part-time. If I were you, I would use the 40 hr/wk rule to make the determination.

Good luck,
Lisa
