Full Time MBA from an Indian University with 8.4 yrs of exp

Hi,

I would like to request for some useful information/guidance on a decision that I am planning to take. I have a Full time MBA from University of Mysore and have 8.4 years of work experience in Information Technology Domain. Currently working with a leading IT firm as a Senior Business Analyst/Consult part of a Business Consulting group. I have registered to take up GMAT exam this Oct'16 and planning to do my full time MBA again from INSEAD. The reason I may wanted to do MBA again is to get International exposure and to become a Global Manager.

I would request for your opinion on this and share your thoughts on my decision.

getting second MBA can be fine, as long as it is justified. The problem I see from you post is that INSEAD will look to your international experiences prior to the MBA, so if you don't have any at this point, it may make you less competitive in the process. Just a thought. cheers, alex

Thanks for the reply. I would further request additional guidance from you on this please. Feel free to suggest me an equally good institution as INSEAD to do my MBA.

On International Experience - Most of my clients were/are International, so I regularly interact with clients globally. Will that add up to International exposure?

I have traveled to Philippines for an assignment in Requirement Gathering for a project for less than a month. Will that get added up as International Exp?

Will my current work experience of 8.4 years in consulting give edge over general applicants?

Hey dude,
To pick up the line here - ANY and EVERY experience that you have that is international helps. Sure, some things are better than others (so leading a huge team abroad is fantastic!), but you take every bit you can get.

As far as the second MBA - I've worked with a bunch of Indian candidates who were doing this very thing - the most important thing is to JUSTIFY your MBA - to show the school why you really NEED it.

As to your final question, having all that experience is nice, but not necessarily an advantage. Having too much or too little can work against you.

For now, I'd say concentrate your energies on your GMAT and drop us a line when you are ready to rumble!!
