publicity stunt

by acecoolan » Thu Dec 18, 2008 11:23 pm
One of the most unusual ceremonies ever held must surely be the mass wedding that took place in mid-air
between Tokyo and Bangkok in 1972. This was a publicity stunt organized by the German airline Lufthansa to
launch the first commercial jumbo jet flight of a Euro airline. Inviting Japanese couples to take part in a jumbo
wedding, the airline found besieged by eager applicants. 20 couples were selected and on this appointed day
they flew across the tarmac of Tokyo airport led by a Shinto priest.

Which of the following can one infer?

A)The wedding ceremony was a mere publicity stunt and none of the marriages were to be conducted.

B)Lufthansa was the first airline to fly the jumbo jet from Japan.

C)The publicity stunt was a success.

D)The couples truly reached the “height” of wedded bliss.

E)Japanese youth are very impressionable and malleable.

We can not bring information from outside to a INFERENCE question

Which of the following can one infer?

A)The wedding ceremony was a mere publicity stunt and none of the marriages were to be conducted.

No information is given whether marriages were to be conducted.

B)Lufthansa was the first airline to fly the jumbo jet from Japan.

No information given for Lufthansa being the FIRST

C)The publicity stunt was a success.

Correct. The plan reached its goal. (success)

D)The couples truly reached the “height” of wedded bliss.

E)Japanese youth are very impressionable and malleable.

Argument does not discuss Japanese YOUTH

What is the source?

A: not merely a public stunt although started with a public stunt
B: it was first commercial jet flight, not the first jet flight
C,D,E: No information to support these facts..

Where is the option F ? :-)

A)it stating same as the stimulus... about the stunt and also it further goes ahead and
says none to be conducted ( were we know they not gettign married ) its insteas weakaning

B)Lufthansa was the first airline to fly the jumbo jet from Japan.--- this is out of context... no other airlines is mentioned

C)The publicity stunt was a success.

D)The couples truly reached the “height” of wedded bliss.--- BLISSS!! this is funny :P

E)Japanese youth are very impressionable and malleable. again youth cannot be infered

The A is eliminated because the first stmt of the stimulus states that "mass wedding that took place"
In the inference question, the info in the stimulus needs to be considered as true.

Hence, I eliminated ans A as wrong.

IMO Ans is C.

Many may choose the option c but that is incorrect as it is mentioned that the luft was the first euro ommercial airline not the first commer. flight form the japan.
also the argument says that the airline was overwhelmed by the RESPONSE OF JAPNESE couple this means that the launch was successful publicity stunts.
